"It's almost like a divorce"

For those of us living in west Michigan, waking up with Scotty Bud  Melvin and Mike McKelly on WRKR - 107.7 (Kalamazoo) has become a way of life.  It is / was as important as the first cup of coffee in the morning.  Mike and Scott's "crazy antics" have become legendary in these here parts.

One that comes to mind is:  A live broadcast they did while sneaking into a woman's bedroom to wish her a happy birthday (at six-o-clock in the morning!).  It seems the husband of the birthday girl set the whole thing up with the guys and left the door unlocked for them.  They started at the door and narrated their way through the house, down the hall and into the poor girls bedroom.  You could hear one of them in a soft voice say "happy birthday (the poor girl's name)... happy birth-".  That's when all hell broke loose!  All we - the listeners could hear, was the poor girl screaming at the top of her lungs and hurling things at the "home invaders".  With tears rolling from laughter, I thought they'd be killed for sure.  However, they survived to bring many other wild & crazy mornings to Kalamazoo, west Michigan, north east Indiana and north west Ohio.

I'm sure that there are thousands upon thousands of loyal listeners feeling much the same as one Mottville, MI. resident.  When asked:  What are your thoughts on the Scotty Bud deal? He replied:  "It's almost like a divorce, 17 years of waking up with somebody and one day- POOF, they're gone."

With a deep heart, we here at Netpiks.com say goodbye to an era of laughter, great sports commentary and community caring.  We say goodbye to the morning show as it was and hello to the bright future ahead for Scotty Bud Melvin.

Good luck and best wishes for you and your family Scott,
